The helpful hint for this installment revolves around "persistence." The "P" word can never be over-used. And neither can your dogged determination to engage the media. Now please take note. We are not saying to be obnoxiously bothersome to the media. That will have the opposite affect. Here's how you can be persistent:

  1. Follow current events
  2. Watch what's being covered locally
  3. Drop an email to the producer or assignment editor and make sure it is a quick note. No long dissertations
  4. Medical and health stories are of particular interest these days so, if you have an expert in this field, pitch, pitch pitch.
